Coal is currently the main basic material for power generation in domestic thermal power plants. The medium-speed coal mill can grind and finely crush the coal pellets, effectively improving the coal-burning efficiency of large thermal power plants. Coal pulverizers are divided into three types: high, medium, and low according to the speed. Medium-speed coal pulverizers are the most chosen one among thermal power plants.

The coal mill in the thermal power plant is an important guarantee for the full combustion of pulverized coal. Common coal mills in power plants are divided into flat mills, bowl mills, E-type mills and roller mills, and medium-speed coal mills. Among them, medium-speed coal mills are widely used because of their small footprint, light structure and low energy consumption. The working principle of the medium-speed coal mill is that the motor drives the grinding disc to rotate through the reducer. The raw coal falls into the center of the grinding disc from the feed inlet, and the hot air enters the coal mill from the air inlet. As the grinding disc rotates, the raw coal moves to the grinding disc under the action of centrifugal force. The edge moves and is crushed by the grinding roller as it passes through the annular groove on the grinding disc. The crushed raw coal is brought up by the high-speed airflow at the edge of the mill, and the large particles of raw coal fall back to the mill for re-grinding. When the small particles of raw coal in the air flow pass through the separator, under the action of the rotating leaves, the coarse powder falls from the cone to the grinding disc for re-grinding. The qualified fine powder exits the mill with the air flow and is collected by the dust collector. It is dried when it is in contact with hot air, so by adjusting the temperature of hot air, it can meet the requirements of raw coal grinding with different humidity, and by adjusting the separator, it is possible to obtain coal with different particle sizes. Then the pulverized coal is sent to the boiler for combustion through a conveyor belt. The speed of the medium-speed coal mill is generally about 40~300r/min, and its working principle is more suitable for grinding soft raw coal materials.
